As intentional parents in Christ, our mindset is crucial in shaping our perspective towards motherhood. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the daily tasks of motherhood are mundane and repetitive. However, the truth is that these tasks are essential, important, influential, and purposeful.

In Romans 12:2, we are reminded to renew our minds and not conform to the patterns of this world. This means that we should be vigilant about how we speak to ourselves and the thoughts that we entertain. Instead of thinking of motherhood as mundane, we should view it as a calling and an opportunity to shape the future generation.

Psalm 139:23-24 also reminds us to search our hearts and minds and to be open to God’s guidance. When we have the right mindset, we can find joy in the everyday tasks of motherhood. We can find joy in the way we nurture and care for our children, in the way we create a safe and loving environment for them, and in the way we help them grow and develop.

One helpful way to shift our perspective from thinking of motherhood as mundane to thinking of it as purposeful is to use the metaphor of a mineshaft. A mineshaft is a hole in the ground that leads to a valuable resource. Similarly, the tasks of motherhood may seem mundane, but they are actually leading to something valuable – the growth and development of our children.

For example, imagine a mother who spends a lot of her time cleaning up after her children. It’s easy to think of this task as mundane and repetitive. However, if she shifts her perspective to see the value in creating a clean and organized environment for her children, she can find purpose and joy in this task. She can see that by creating a clean and organized environment, she is teaching her children important life skills, such as responsibility and cleanliness.

Another example is a mother who spends a lot of time cooking meals for her family. It’s easy to think of this task as mundane and time-consuming. However, if she shifts her perspective to see the value in providing nutritious meals for her family, she can find purpose and joy in this task. She can see that by providing nutritious meals, she is helping her children grow and develop into healthy adults.

In addition to these examples, there are many other ways that we can shift our perspective to find purpose and joy in the everyday tasks of motherhood. For example, if we view our role as a mother as a ministry, we can see the importance of what we are doing and the impact that it has on our families and communities. If we view our children as gifts from God, we can see the value in investing our time and energy into nurturing and caring for them.

In conclusion, by using the mineshaft perspective and other mindset-shifting techniques, we can find purpose and joy in the everyday tasks of motherhood. By focusing on the value and importance of what we are doing, we can see the impact that we are making in the lives of our children and those around us.
