I took a picture of this book with a sunflower because as I read it, I was reminded that life doesn’t always go the way we want it to. It’s often easy to feel discouraged or in despair when circumstances feel out of our control. But the darkness and dirt of life isn’t the end; it’s only the beginning! Sunflowers teach us to seek the Lord and the strength He gives continually. They also teach us about letting go. We should seek God even in the wanting and the waiting. Loving Jesus is not a single act but a way of living. It’s living fully into your faith (even in the dark and despair) and knowing Jesus is the center of your life. When we first seek his kingdom and his righteousness, he will give us everything we need. When we seek our Lord FIRST and focus on our oneness with Him, the more thrilling the gospel becomes and the more meaningful life becomes. His joy will be in us as we abide in the calm delight in the Lord, and His joy will be in us. God’s love and grace change us, and we find true freedom in Christ. If we seek HIS strength, HIS face first, we will surely declare what Paul did, “I can do all things through the one who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
I enjoyed reading this book alone, but I think it would be perfect for a bible study, devotional, or small group discussion. The back of the book has discussion questions for each chapter, and I think it would be beneficial to reflect and talk about them deeper with others.

ADRIAN BEST studied the biblical truth of union with Christ as a Doctor of Theology for three years at the University of Divinity, Australia. Professionally, Adrian is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He is actively involved in his local church and loves spending time with Heidi, his wife of twenty years, and their three young children. Adrian enjoys keeping fit, playing piano, and reading about theology and artificial intelligence in his spare time.
