There couldn’t have been a more appropriate Netflix premier date for
Tidying up with Marie Kondo, than Jan 1st. If your new years resolution this year was to leave the mess behind, then I highly recommend this series. It is sure to give you the motivation that you are looking for. It is an eight-episode self-help reality show on spotlighting the Japanese decluttering guru and her vaunted “KonMari” method.

The Netflix series is based on Kondo’s best-selling book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing.”  Rather than cleaning out room by room, the KonMari Method promotes sorting by category, and assigning a sentimentality to each item. As Kondo writes on her website, “Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy. Thank them for their service — then let them go.”

About Marie Kondo

Enchanted with organizing since her childhood, Marie Kondo began her tidying consultant business as a 19-year-old university student in Tokyo. Today, Marie is a renowned tidying expert helping people around the world to transform their cluttered homes into spaces of serenity and inspiration. Her KonMari Method™, introduced in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (a global phenomenon that has sold more than ten million copies in over forty countries), is a way of life inspired by a single question: Does this item spark joy? The answer points the way to a life filled only with the items we truly cherish.M

Marie has been featured on more than fifty major Japanese television and radio programs as well as in Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The London Times, Vogue Magazine, the Ellen Show, the Rachael Ray Show and many more. She has also been listed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people.

  1. After my DIL had my first grandson we saved his clothes for future babies. I have 5 grandsons now but know there won’t be anymore. Now I have all the clothes from all 5 of the boys in 9 plastic tubs. Thankfully they are all in the attic but time to get rid of the ones that no longer fit any of them
