Toka Box – July Tiger Box Review

We had the joy of trying out the July Toka Box this month!  It was all about tigers!

The Toka Box is a monthly subscription box that has a different theme every month. Each box focuses on literary skills, STEAM skills, school readiness, and life skills.

July 29th was International Tiger Day, so the theme they chose was perfect!!  Did you know that we have lost 97% of tigers in the wild?  International Tiger Day is both to raise awareness for the conservation of these majestic creatures and to celebrate them!  😊

The box came with a book called,  “Tiger on a Tree,” by Anushka Ravishankar and Pulak Biswas.  It also came with a fun craft!

This is such a fun rhyming story about a tiger who wanders from shore to shore, a scary cat that climbs up a tree.  The humans then trap him and wonder what to do with him?  “He’s caught. He’s got. Now what?” they say.  They then make a suprising decision to release him, and the tiger runs off again.

My girls really loved this book, and the fun craft that went along with it!

Tiger Hide and Seek Craft

I loved how everything you needed for this craft was included in the box.

Fun Fact:  Did you know that the tiger is the largest wild cat in the world? Its tail can be 3 feet long or almost as long as the height of the three year old kid!

To learn more about Toka Box subscriptions, visit their website.  They offer 2 subscription options – Toka Junior for Kids ages 3-5 years, and Toka Explorer for kids ages 5-8. subscriptions.

Smurfs: The Lost Village Review

The girls and I recently watched Smurfs: The Lost Village.  Growing up watching the smurfs as a kid, I really loved this movie!  To be honest, I really didn’t care for the live action movies they did awhile back – they didn’t remind me of the “old smurfs”.   This new movie however, takes me back to my 80’s childhood.  I love how they stay in smurf village, and although others may not agree with me – I LOVE THAT IT IS A CARTOON!

Movie Description:  In this fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest to find a lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel. Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and adventure, the Smurfs about to discover THE biggest secret in Smurf history!

My girls really didn’t watch much of the previous smurf movies.  However, the answer to the always wondered question”Why is there only one girl smurf” — had my girls watching this movie non-stop.  In-fact, we have watched it 5 times so far!

I love the message of the movie — Don’t be locked into someone else’s label for you, give of yourself, care for others, do your best, and most of all, be there for the ones you love.

Seems Smurftastic to me! 🙂

Let me know in the comments if you’ve seen  Smurfs: The Lost Village,  and what you thought of it!

Review of

Recently, sent me a free pair of eyeglasses to review.   They are a great website in which you can order prescription sunglasses and eyeglasses.

Being a single mom who wears contacts,  glasses were not something I could ever afford.  Everytime I’d get my yearly checkup,  the doctor would ask me to consider purchasing a pair of eyeglasses,  but they weren’t in my budget.  This is why I love, they have a lot of cool glasses and frames that you can choose from; and they are very reasonably priced.

A feature I loved about the website was that you can upload a photo of yourself, and see how your glasses will look on you before ordering the glasses online.

You can track your order on the website by entering your tracking number in the box at the top of the page. If you have any questions, has a “Live Chat” link that will allow you to chat directly with a customer service representative. You can also call or email them using the contact information at the bottom of the page.

The eye glasses I ordered arrived in a small white box. When I opened it, the glasses were in a clear white case with printed on it.

You can use my coupon code GSHOT50 to get 50% off of eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses with free lenses!  This code does not include frames that are on sale.  If you invite your friend to the site, you can get $10.00 off when they use your coupon code.  Your friend will also get 50% off of their first order!  Check out the website for more details!

Candlemart by Hanna’s Review and Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received products in exchange for an honest review.

I love candles.  My mother and I always smell candles anytime we go shopping together.  I have many good memories growing up, smelling and discussing candles with her.

I was so thrilled to review products from candlmart by Hanna’s.  I decided to pick products with a Spring theme.

Spring Trios Triple Pour Lilac Breeze Scented Wax Melts

Fresh Cotton Trios include: 4 Periwinkle Pansy melt cubes, 4 Violet Petals melt cubes, 4 Lilac Breeze cubes

I love having melts because they are wonderful at giving off a smell without the flame.  This is important to me because I have 2 preschoolers running around — and a cat!  AND let me tell you what — these melts smell divine!  It is like bringing a spring  bouquet into your home.  I absolutely love them.  You can melt one fragrance, or mix and match.

Lilac Petals Scented Small Pint Jar Candle

Lilacs hold a special place in my heart.  My mom had a lilac bush in our backyard growing up.  We always had fresh cut lilacs in our kitchen.  The smell of lilacs always warms my heart.. so this candle was a must!  In fact, I let out a squeel of excitement when I ran across this candle on the website!  This candle has a fresh picked lilac smell with pear-splashed medley of boxwood, violet, precious woods, and berry-infused musk.  Trust me … this candle is heaven in a jar!!

    Wild Berry Scented Wax Melts

The next prodct I picked was the Wild Berry melts.  They smell of juicy blackberries and cranberries — dusted with confectioners sugar.  I really love the smell of berries — so this was a great pick for me.  I used to go in our backyard as a kid and pick berries to make homemade pies — So I love that these melts smell just like berry pie!

Aromabeads Lavender Thyme Scented Canister Candle

I love having lavender candles around the house.  They are perfect for burning right before bedtime.  They have a calming affect on the girls, and help us get ready for bed.  They are also perfect to burn during bubble baths.

The aromabeads candles provide a unique burning experience because they burn different, and release fragrance into the air faster.  This is why I picked a lavender fragrance for this particular candle type.  It has a Lavender Thyme Fragrance with notes of jasmine flowers, and rose petals blended with the sultry notes of sandalwood and musk.

Peony Fields Scented Small Pint Jar Candle

I really love the smell of Peony flowers.  This candle has the smell of peonies with also hints of Rose, cyclamen, white musk and tender woods.  My girls really love this particular candle.  They kept wanting to smell it.

My Review of the Very Hungry Caterpillar Surprise Slides Game

Our #TuesdayTryThis is an awesome game we recently purchased on Amazon called “The very Hungry Caterpillar Surprise Slides Game.

My girls absolutely love the Hungry caterpillar Book, so I knew that they would fall in love with this game.  We had so much fun playing it, and I was surprised at how well it kept their attention.  I even found them playing it together (without Mom) — how awesome is that!

This game is perfect for teaching because it:

    • Promotes color recognition
    • Encourages turn-taking and playing together
    • Perfect first game for preschoolers

The colors of this game a beautiful and vibrant.  You also switch the tiles during the game, which changes the game play (the slides) — which makes it exciting and new every time!  I really adore the game pieces, they are little worms.

The only thing I hated about the game, and it really isn’t a big deal, was that the flip over pieces fit too snugly (mom has to help) — so I just placed them down loosely on top and that solved the problem.

A FRIENDLY NOTE from a mom who has plenty of experience with games not lasting in her house –> I suggest putting the game away yourself after the kids are done playing with it.  This will keep the game nice, and will help you keep track of all the pieces.  I keep our games in my closet where the kids can’t reach them.  If they want to play with them they have to ask me to get them down.  This helps me keep track of everything, and allows the game to be used more than once.

Note from Elizabeth: This is just an honest post that was not sponsored by the manufacturer. I just really like using this product & wanted to share it with you. Enjoy!
