Hey everyone, it’s been a tough week for me. I’ve been feeling really down and haven’t been spending as much time with Jesus as I know I should be. But even in the midst of all this, I’ve been trusting that He is guiding me and leading me on the right path.
One verse that has been on my mind lately is James 3:3-4, which reminds us of the power of our words and thoughts, and how they can impact our lives in significant ways. But to truly align our thoughts and words with God’s truth, we must seek Him first in all aspects of our lives.
So, how do we seek Him first? Here are a few practical ways:
- Start your day with prayer and Bible study: Begin each day by spending time in prayer and reading the Bible. This helps to set the tone for your day and helps you focus on God’s will for your life.
- Prioritize time with God: Make time for God a priority in your daily schedule. Set aside specific times each day to pray, read the Bible, or meditate on His word.
- Attend church regularly: Attend worship services regularly and participate in Bible studies and small groups. Surrounding yourself with other believers can help you stay focused on God’s will.
- Listen to worship music: Listening to worship music can help to create a peaceful and worshipful atmosphere in your home or car, and can keep your mind focused on God throughout the day.
- Seek God’s guidance in all aspects of your life: Pray for God’s guidance and direction in all areas of your life, from your career to your relationships. When you seek God’s will first, everything else falls into place.
As believers, we are called to prioritize God above all else. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This means intentionally spending time with Him in prayer and through reading His Word to grow closer to Him and align our hearts with His will.
Seeking God first also means allowing Him to guide and direct our steps. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we submit to God and trust in His plan for our lives, we can be confident that He will lead us in the right direction.
It’s also important to be mindful of our thoughts and words, as they can have a powerful impact on our lives. When we align our thoughts and words with God’s truth, we can steer ourselves towards His will. James 1:22 reminds us, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
In conclusion, seeking God first is a vital aspect of our faith. Let’s make it a priority to spend intentional time with God, trust in His plan, and align our thoughts and words with His truth. When we seek Him first, everything else falls into place.
