It’s taco Tuesday in our house today, and I’m excited to share with you my homemade taco seasoning recipe. As a parent, I’ve become increasingly aware of the importance of being intentional with what we put in our bodies. And one of the ways I’ve been doing that is by making my own spice blends, like this taco seasoning.
I used to buy pre-made taco seasoning packets from the store, but one day, I decided to read the ingredients list, and I was shocked by what I found. Most of the packets contain added sugars, MSG, and other artificial flavors and preservatives. As someone who cares about the health of my family, I knew I needed to make a change.
That’s when I started experimenting with making my own taco seasoning, and let me tell you, it’s so much better than the store-bought stuff. Not only is it healthier, but it’s also fresher and more flavorful. Plus, it’s really easy to make!
Here’s my recipe:
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl.
- Store the taco seasoning in an airtight container.
I love this taco seasoning because it’s made with simple, wholesome ingredients that I can feel good about feeding my family. And it tastes amazing! The combination of chili powder, cumin, and paprika gives it a rich, smoky flavor that’s perfect for tacos.
Being intentional with what we put in our bodies is so important, especially as parents. We want to set a good example for our kids and show them that eating healthy can still be delicious. Making your own spice blends, like this taco seasoning, is a great way to do that.
So the next time you’re making tacos, give this homemade taco seasoning a try. I promise you won’t regret it!
