If you’re looking for a way to save money on laundry detergent, or if you have sensitive skin and need a gentler alternative to store-bought detergents, making your own laundry soap might be the solution you’ve been looking for. Not only is it simple to make, but it’s also affordable and effective at getting your clothes clean and fresh.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup washing soda
- 1 cup borax
- 1 bar of soap (any kind, but unscented is best)
- Optional: essential oils for scent (we like to use scent booster)

Instructions:
- Grate the bar of soap into a large bowl.
- Add the washing soda and borax to the bowl and mix well.
- Optional: add a few drops of essential oils (or scent booster) to the mixture for a fresh scent.
- Store the mixture in an airtight container. We use a cute mental container for laundry powder with a scoop. You can find it on Amazon!

To use:
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture to your washing machine for each load of laundry.
- For extra dirty clothes, add an additional tablespoon of the mixture.
- Enjoy your fresh and clean laundry!
Not only is this DIY laundry soap affordable and effective, but it’s also eco-friendly and free of harsh chemicals. Give it a try and see how it works for you!
What about dryer sheets?
We also love to use wool dryer balls as an alternative to dryer sheets and fabric softeners. They’re reusable and are a more environmentally friendly option to disposable dryer sheets.
