Author Rose Ann Forte wrote this book out of a desire to help people stop drinking without the stigma of AA. She herself found mercy and grace in seeking God and support in her life without having to label herself an alcoholic. She knew if God did it for her, then He would do it for others. This devotional is a 12 Week Journey to stop drinking. She also offers support groups and coaching for people seeking it.

Research shows an acceleration of drinking and increased cases of liver disease during Covid. Many are now looking to kick the habit of overdrinking to manage stress. This devotional points them to the ultimate healer and deliverer, plus gives them tools along the way.

MY THOUGHTS

Many of us have struggled or are struggling with addictions. I’ve struggled with many forms of addictions, from one season to the next, for various reasons. One thing I’ve always struggled with during the healing and refining process was placing labels on myself. I always felt that labeling myself made it hard to walk in the freedom, deliverance, and new identity that He was asking me to walk with Him. When Jesus met the outcast woman at the well, he didn’t label or condemn her but showed her love and offered her living water. Labels have always made the gift of forgiveness hard to accept because rejection was always my stumbling block. This is why I always found it hard to forgive myself. When we lean into the love of Jesus, accept the free gift of grace and mercy, and know our identity is found in Him and Him alone, freedom from addictions is found. I enjoyed this devotional because it has been something I have struggled with, which is why I don’t share my testimony with many. I think that this book would help many in addiction, not only alcoholics.

About the Author

Rose Ann Forte was a successful C-Suite Executive and ministry leader in the church. She was a working mom of four and a social drinker. Over the years, life’s stresses and a difficult marriage created an environment where her alcohol usage increased significantly. Her health and emotional well-being suffered greatly. After the collapse of her marriage, her drinking further escalated, and she felt like a fraud with God and the Church. She made many attempts to control it, only to later lose control again.

There were aspects of AA that didn’t feel comfortable for her, so it was not an option in her mind. She had already submitted to God and didn’t want to call herself an alcoholic.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she enrolled in a coaching program to put alcohol to the side for three months. Her experience was extremely transformational, and she recognized God’s instruction embedded in the entire process. She identified what alcohol had stolen from her life and understood that God had a better plan for her. Rose Ann felt called to document what she learned with a daily devotional so others can experience God’s promises through scriptural instruction with hope and a better plan for the future.

  1. The wine leads me on, the wild wine that sets the savvies man to sing as loud as possible, and chuckle like a nitwit it drives the man to move it even entices him to exclaim stories better won’t ever tell.
