A beautiful journal Bible for girls with plenty of space for notes, art, and doodles.

Here’s a Bible to help 6- to 10-year-old girls get started on the life-long practice of journaling their thoughts and prayers while reading Scripture. The NIrV Journal the Word™ Bible for Girls: My First Bible for Tracing Verses, Journaling, and Creating Art (Zonderkidz, 2022) (website) offers plenty of space for capturing personal notes, art, doodles, and more.

Throughout the pages of this beautiful Bible, readers are able to journal their feelings and prayers as they write, color, and trace verses. However a girl wishes to creatively express herself in the way God designed her, she will engage with the Lord’s heart and get to know the One who knows and loves her best.

This Bible uses the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV), the easy-to-read translation of the entire Bible that’s adapted with care from the accurate, readable, and clear New International Version (NIV) and written at a third-grade level, making it ideal for early readers.

Features of the NIrV Journal the Word™ Bible for Girls: My First Bible for Tracing Verses, Journaling, and Creating Art are:

  • The complete text of the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV), written at a third-grade reading level for developing readers
  • Double-column format
  • Wide margins girls can use in three ways:
  • Lined side margins for taking notes
  • Blank side margins for drawing, coloring, and doodling
  • 100 verses for tracing to help with print and cursive penmanship and Scripture memorization
  • Thick white paper for writing and doodling
  • Satin ribbon marker
  • Exclusive Zondervan NIrV Comfort Print® typeface
  • 8.5-point print size.

My Thoughts

I was so happy to receive this Bible for review because my daughters are 9 and 10, and this Bible sounded like something they would enjoy. They love to doodle and express their thoughts through words and pictures, and since journaling is an excellent form of worship, I thought this would be the perfect gift for them. My daughters are attending a Christian Summer Camp for the first time this summer, and I can’t wait to present it to them before they go. This Bible offers plenty of space for note-taking, but I don’t think there is much room for doodling or creating art. I wish that it provided more blank space for that without the lines. Overall, I think this is the perfect beginner Bible as it’s written in the NIrV translation, written at a third-grade level, making it easy for beginning readers to understand. It’s a great Bible to give any young girl just starting their walk with the Lord because it allows them to start journaling and writing down any messages that the Lord speaks to their hearts. Every girl needs the perfect Bible to encourage them as they grow and walk with the Lord, and this is a great one!
