A few weeks ago, I reviewed “Show Me The Father,” which is the first documentary from the Kendrick Brothers that was released in theaters earlier this month! You can read the review here. A lot has happened in a decade since the orginal Courageous movie hit theaters, but one thing has not changed – God’s plan for fathers and their families.
There is a father absence crisis in America. According to National Fatherhood Initiative website, and according to the U.S. Census Bureau – 18.3 million children, 1 in 4, live without a father in the home. The statistics on how fatherlessness affects children is staggering, and you can view some of the statistics here. This is why it’s so encouraging and timely that the Kendrick Brothers have released such inspiring movies about fatherhood! I highly recommend them both!
The Courageous Resolution Ceremony
A key moment in COURAGEOUS Legacy occurs when Adam, played by Alex Kendrick, is encouraged to study Scripture to see what God says about the role of fatherhood. It led to The Resolution, a beautiful declaration dads can commit to, maybe even with an official ceremony as in the movie. I absolutely love this idea, and you can download the resolution pdf here, or view it down below. I really believe that this movie has the potential to change the lives of men and their families for years to come!
One of the main themes in this movie was that even if fathers may not have started out well, they can finish well! The scene down below was one of my favorites because it showed how God is the God of second chances – and all we need to do is trust His leading and follow His ways. We can all finish well when we surrender and ask for His help!

Getting The Band Back Together!
One of the many great aspects of COURAGEOUS Legacy is the new ending created by the Kendrick Brothers to give an update to the stories of the five dads we met in the movie. To get you ready, here is a video that shares the actors’ excitement when they gathered a decade later to film the new bonus ending.
