Prioritizing our Relationship with God: An Object Lesson for Kids

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

The Bible teaches us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). In Psalm 119:34, we read, “Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.”ย

To illustrate the importance of prioritizing our relationship with God, we can use an object lesson with quarters and a plastic Easter egg. First, we place a pile of coins to represent the things of this world. Then, we use an Easter egg to represent our relationship with God.

The task for the children is to pick up all the coins on the table with one hand while holding the egg in their hand. They cannot change the position of the egg or remove it from their hand. At the end of thirty seconds, they get to keep whatever they have in their hands, except for the egg. The egg contains $5.00.ย

This object lesson teaches us that when we prioritize our relationship with God, we can resist the temptation to pursue the things of this world. By choosing the egg over the coins, we receive a greater reward. We must set our priorities and not give up what we have with God for something the world offers. Remember to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind and obey His laws.

Teach your kids the importance of prioritizing their relationship with God with this fun and interactive object lesson. #RelationshipWithGod #ObjectLessonForKids #catsinthecradleblog Click To Tweet
