Watch NF’s New Music Video “Time” + My Thoughts

I love this video so much!! As a parent we’re often told that love is spelled T-I-M-E. I was reminded of this when I watched this music video. If you want relationships to work you have to put in the time.

“cause both of us know, I’m the definition of ‘wreck’ when you look into my soul.”

By showing the music video going backwards it actually has two interpretations; it shows the couple breaking up and what they went through, but also shows her coming back and unpacking. (breaking up vs. working it out)

When you reach a breaking point in relationships, time will heal if it’s meant to be. Many of the issues in life are a matter of “perception,” and you grow and mature as you stop seeing the world through a broken lens (healing). Love is a choice, and takes time.

Below are a few thoughts that i had while watching this music video from the perspective of working it out

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . . 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

When I thought of that verse I remembered a book that I’ve read called, “The Love Dare“. It’s a great marriage tool to use for understanding and practicing unconditional love with a 40 day devotional that breaks down Corinthians 13:4-8.

The music video also had me thinking about love languages. Everyone can feel love differently because we each have different love languages we speak. A love language is a way of feeling and expressing love based upon a person’s emotional needs.  We not only need to learn how to love ourselves, but we need to learn how to love others as well.

what are the five love languages

  • WORDS OF AFFIRMATION
    • Feeling loved through verbal words of encouragement, compliments, kindness, or humility.
  • QUALITY TIME
    • Feeling loved when time is spent with you in meaningful activities or through meaningful conversation.
  • GIFTS
    • Feeling loved when you receive gifts that are can be either purchased, found, or made.
  • PHYSICAL TOUCH
    • Feeling loved through physical affections such as holding hands, hugs, kisses, holding hands, cuddling, sexual intimacy, etc. Physical intimacy is a basic emotional need for everyone but some more strongly than others.
  • ACTS OF SERVICE
    • Feeling loved when acts of service are performed for you, requiring time, effort, and thought.

Hearts are divided differently for everyone. Even though we all have the capacity to feel loved in each of the five love languages, we each have a preference for how we express our love and how we receive love. We tend to show love for others in our own primary love language. However, this won’t work if you don’t share the same love language. If you take the time to learn others love languages, emotional needs can be met beautifully!

We must be willing to learn primary love languages if we are to be effective communicators of love. – Gary Chapman

I watched this sermon the other night, and thought back to it after watching this. i’m sharing it because i think it may be for someone else as well.

I’ve been suffering with depression and anxiety for a long time. When I listened to this sermon the other night I cried so hard afterwards. I’m a single mom, and have decided not to date until I’ve overcome my depression and anxiety. I don’t think that I can truly love someone until I can love myself. I have too much baggage that I need to work through. After watching the sermon I feel that in a way I’ve been telling myself to “give up,” and I’ve been the dead girl that’s just asleep.

I really feel like God was letting me know through this sermon that I can follow Him with my broken heart, and when the time is right He will connect me with my special someone.

Fear, anxiety, depression – GET OUT!

As always, thanks for reading!  i really loved this music video, and i hope you enjoyed reading my reaction to it. Let me know what you think of the new music video in the comments.
