The smART Sketcher Projector from FlyCatcher is a great way to help your child develop a love of drawing while improving many skills.

Skills Taught:

  • Fine Motor Skills: Holding a crayon, tracing a fine line, and coloring with a marker nurture fine motor skills in small hands and promote the dexterity needed for beginning, as well as advanced, writing.
  • Language Development: Talking about art creates opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes and the types of lines and designs drawn. Pictures can be starting points for telling stories and describing actions.
  • Creativity: Choosing a color, a drawing tool, a character, or telling a story gives kids the chance to make fail-safe decisions and experiment with new ideas.
  • Digital Learning: Integrating a smart phone or tablet into kids’ activities often engages them through play, enabling them to absorb new information in new ways. It also empowers them to move seamlessly between online and offline worlds.

Your child will have hours and hours of fun drawing pictures from the pre-loaded card.  The program will teach them how to draw the photos by small tracing steps – which makes it really easy!  When they get bored with what’s on the card, you can download photos from any smart device, or insert pre-loaded themed activity packs.  The packs include numbers, letters, dinosaurs, sea creatures, princesses, and more!

Not only did my girls (ages 5 and 6) have fun with this sketcher, I did as well.  It reminded me of the many times I would hold a picture up to the window so I could trace it by sunlight!  This really is a great device for all ages.

  1. I love this. It reminds me of one I had when I was little it was red with a bulb inside and we used paper to trace stuff 😻
