Painting Fireworks

We decided to paint fireworks this weekend.  🙂

This is really easy and fun.

  1. Put some shavingcream on a cookie sheet.
  2. Place dots of color
  3. Star out the paint with a q-tip
  4. Place thick white paper on the creations and press down lightly
  5. Let sit for a few minutes and remove.
  6. Set aside and let the paint dry for about 5-10 minutes
  7. Scrap off shaving cream with a card.  (We used junk mail)

This is also a fun way to make fireworks!

    1. Cut a toiletpaper roll with strips – halfway up.
    2. Place paint on paper plates.
    3. And have fun stamping some fireworks!

    Easy Chicken Parmesan

This recipe is so easy, and your kids will love it!!

Start by cutting the chicken in half, leaving a seam.  Add parmesan cheese in the center.

Coat the chicken with egg yolk,  then breadcrumbs.   I used an Italian style.

Then fry it a few minutes to get the coating brown.

Place chicken in a caserole plan and cover with tomato sauce and more cheese.  Bake the chicken for about 30 minutes.

Boil some spagetti noodles, takes about 10 minutes.

    Serve chicken over the noodles.

Stop, Pray, Walk Away: Object Lesson on Self Control

There is nothing wrong with being angry.  Anger is a wonderful emotion, to show us that something is wrong.  Typically, one of the primary emotions, like fear or sadness, can be found underneath the anger. … In contrast to fear and sadness, anger can provide a surge of energy and make us feel more in charge, rather than feeling vulnerable or helpless.  According to James 3:2-8, we must not sin when we feel angry.

Here is an object lesson to teach your children about self control when we are angry.

James 3:7-8 “All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”

Fill up a clear class of water almost to the top with warm water.  Place the glass in a baking dish — for overflow.  Next, add a few drops of food coloring, and 3-4 drops of dish soap into the glass.  Now sprinkle 2 Tablespoons of baking soda on top.  THE FUN PART  — pour in vinegar into the glass.  OVERFLOW!!

Explain to the children that we are the water, and the baking soda is our anger.  The vinegar is our self control, and if we don’t control it — we will sin in our anger.

God’s plan is better — stop, PRAY, and walk away!

A Sanctified Vessel – Object Lesson

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour.  1 Thessalonians 4:4 KJV

Living a holy life and possessing ourselves with honor includes watching our actions and our thought processes.  How do we dress – do we honor God in how we look?  Do our motives promote cleaning living, or our we careless in our actions around others?  What do we watch on TV, or what movies do we watch?

As Christians we must be careful not to follow the trends of the World, and strive to live a holy life pleasing to God.

    1 John 2: 15-17:

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

This is such a fun science experiment to explain this lesson.  It seemed like everyone from the neighborhood came by our apartment to see what we were doing!  🙂

The water represents the world.  The oil in the Jar represents us in Christ.  The red food coloring represents the sins of the world.

I explained to the girls how the oil separates from the water.  See how it shines in the sunlight!?!  This is how God wants us to be — shiny and bright, not of the world.

Sometimes we sin and become like the world.  So we stirred up the oil and water to represent us in sin.   I explained that when we sin — we can repent our sins, and Jesus forgives us.  When then become brand new in Christ – shiny and new again!

As I was talking the oil repealed the food coloring – and began separating from the water.

Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world!

    John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God, help me to live a clean life, one that honors You in every way.  Help me to cultivate thoughts and habits pleasing to You.  Amen.

    Impossible by Meredith Andrews

One of my favorite things to do is listen to worship music.  It gives me a chance to enjoy the Lord’s presence,  become refreshed, and be encouraged.  🙂

I spend most of my days down in the dumps – just existing.  I struggle with depression, and enjoying daily life.  I came across this song the other day by Meredith Andrews, called “Impossible.”  It is such a comforting song.

This song is such a nice reminder that even though the world will constantly fails us, God never does.   He walks before us every day – and it is impossible for Him to fail.

Candlemart by Hanna’s Review and Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received products in exchange for an honest review.

I love candles.  My mother and I always smell candles anytime we go shopping together.  I have many good memories growing up, smelling and discussing candles with her.

I was so thrilled to review products from candlmart by Hanna’s.  I decided to pick products with a Spring theme.

Spring Trios Triple Pour Lilac Breeze Scented Wax Melts

Fresh Cotton Trios include: 4 Periwinkle Pansy melt cubes, 4 Violet Petals melt cubes, 4 Lilac Breeze cubes

I love having melts because they are wonderful at giving off a smell without the flame.  This is important to me because I have 2 preschoolers running around — and a cat!  AND let me tell you what — these melts smell divine!  It is like bringing a spring  bouquet into your home.  I absolutely love them.  You can melt one fragrance, or mix and match.

Lilac Petals Scented Small Pint Jar Candle

Lilacs hold a special place in my heart.  My mom had a lilac bush in our backyard growing up.  We always had fresh cut lilacs in our kitchen.  The smell of lilacs always warms my heart.. so this candle was a must!  In fact, I let out a squeel of excitement when I ran across this candle on the website!  This candle has a fresh picked lilac smell with pear-splashed medley of boxwood, violet, precious woods, and berry-infused musk.  Trust me … this candle is heaven in a jar!!

      Wild Berry Scented Wax Melts

The next prodct I picked was the Wild Berry melts.  They smell of juicy blackberries and cranberries — dusted with confectioners sugar.  I really love the smell of berries — so this was a great pick for me.  I used to go in our backyard as a kid and pick berries to make homemade pies — So I love that these melts smell just like berry pie!

Aromabeads Lavender Thyme Scented Canister Candle

I love having lavender candles around the house.  They are perfect for burning right before bedtime.  They have a calming affect on the girls, and help us get ready for bed.  They are also perfect to burn during bubble baths.

The aromabeads candles provide a unique burning experience because they burn different, and release fragrance into the air faster.  This is why I picked a lavender fragrance for this particular candle type.  It has a Lavender Thyme Fragrance with notes of jasmine flowers, and rose petals blended with the sultry notes of sandalwood and musk.

Peony Fields Scented Small Pint Jar Candle

I really love the smell of Peony flowers.  This candle has the smell of peonies with also hints of Rose, cyclamen, white musk and tender woods.  My girls really love this particular candle.  They kept wanting to smell it.

      Kid Friendly Banana Pie

I love making deserts that the girls can help me with!  Here is an easy recipe for Banana Pudding Pie.

Have the kids mix a tub of whipcream and pudding together.   Banana flavor,  or vanilla.

Then place banana slices on the bottom of gramcracker crust. (I recommend bananas that have ripen for awhile.)  If they are too ripe, they don’t taste as good.  Add whipcream mixture on top of the banana slices.

Cover with more banana slices, and place in refrigerator for a few hours.
